Chocolate cupcakes with colored buttercream frosting

Chocolate cupcakes with colored buttercream frosting

A rich, tender homemade chocolate cupcake topped with my favorite buttercream frosting. I tried a few chocolate recipes  until I tweaked this one that I think is perfect, a chocoholic’s dream. You will have a rich and moist chocolate inside with the perfect buttercream frosting.

Also, because Spring is here and I love the warm weather  and the flowers blooming with all their beautiful colors I played withe the  buttercream frosting colors; hope you will find them as cute as I do .

This is a great go-to chocolate cupcake recipe you will use over and over again !

Directions :

  1. Preheat oven to 170˚C . Butter two 20 cm round cake pans; dust with cocoa.
  2. Sift cocoa, flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt into the bowl of a mixer. Beat on low speed until just combined
  3. Raise speed to medium, and add eggs, buttermilk, water, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth, about 3 minutes and then divide the batter in the cupcake tray
  4. I have a cupcake tray for 12 cupcakes and from this recipe I’ve made 17 cupcakes.
  5. For the buttercream: we put the softened butter into the mixture and we will wipe it for about 5 minutes on a high speed.
  6. We will start adding the powder sugar a quarter at a time and after each addition we will mix it for about 2 minutes, we will start mixed on a low speed not to end up with a massive cloud of dust and once it incorporates on a low speed to bring it to a high speed for 2 minutes. Do this until you incorporated almost all your sugar .
  7. When your buttercream get’s a little chunky you will need to add the vanilla and 2 teaspoon milk.
  8. If you like the consistency stop, if you like it to be smother you add another teaspoon of sugar .
  9. Decorate the cupcakes in the colors you want or you can use it like this !

Enjoy !
